Tiritiri Matangi Island is a beautiful open sanctuary off the coast of Auckland, restored to provide a safe haven for New Zealand’s native birds and wildlife. Managed by the Department of Conservation and the Supporters of Tiritiri Matangi, the island has become a thriving ecosystem thanks to intensive conservation efforts. Through habitat restoration and reintroduction of endangered species, Tiritiri Matangi has helped species such as the takahe, saddleback, and little spotted kiwi to flourish. Wingspan Birds of Prey Trust
Wingspan is New Zealand’s leading organization for the conservation, education, and advocacy of birds of prey.
